Dubai has become synonymous with opulence and ground-breaking technology, but the city’s newest development relies on some old-world flair. By 2020, a miniature version of Venice will float less than three miles off the coast of Dubai. The project is being overseen by Dubai developer Cityscape Global and will be known as The Floating Venice.
The facility will be able to accommodate up to 3,000 guests daily and will include twelve restaurants, floating beaches, an underwater spa, and of course, gondolas imported straight from Venice! Visitors will travel to this floating destination by seaplane, boat or helicopter. Upon arrival, they will check in to one of 414 cabins. Lucky visitors will score one of 180 underwater cabins that offer a prime view of the Arabian Sea and over 400,000 square feet of coral and marine life.
To round out the experience, visitors will be treated to some of Venice’s most popular festivals, including Carnevale di Venezia, the famed festival of masks. Operas will also be performed on-site at the resort.
