2009 World Figure Skating Championships

Los Angeles, California
March 22 30, 2009

Rarely does Worlds come without snow, ice and rain, but Los Angeles, with its sunny climate, offers us a warm, dry March! A cosmopolitan, international city on the magnificent Pacific coast amid tranquil deserts and purple mountains, Los Angeles is a vibrant, fun, often irreverent city, offering a wealth of sightseeing and entertainment opportunities. In our program, we only begin to scratch the surface and to enjoy the many offerings of this city. See the very best in the figure skating world compete for gold and set the stage for the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, BC!

ITINERARY (Times and events are tentative and subject to change)

Sunday, March 22 | Arrive Los Angeles
Transfer on your own to our hotel. Rest of day free.

Monday, March 23 | Lights, Camera, Los Angeles! (B,L)
Begin our exploration in the downtown district with its wonderful architectural mix of gleaming high-rises alongside historic treasures. Stop at Olvera Street, the city's birthplace, for lively mariachi music and the vibrant colors of Old Mexico. Then to Beverly Hills, home of the rich and famous. Drive down infamous Rodeo Drive past toney designer shops. Lunch at the historic Pig’n Whistle, a 1927 landmark serving light California Cuisine in an "old Hollywood" setting, before travelling back to the golden era of the movies as we visit Hollywood. Find your favorites stars on the “Walk of Fame,” match your footprints with those of the stars at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. See the Kodak Theatre (home to the Academy Awards), and the landmark El Capitan and Egyptian Theaters. Drive past many of popular landmarks such as the Capitol Records Building, the famous “Hollywood” sign, Griffith Park Observatory and Dodger Stadium.

Tuesday, March 24 | Warner Brothers Backlot (B)
A VIP tour of Warner Brothers Studios. View classic film clips, then visit the “back lot” and a working set from popular TV shows or an exciting upcoming theatrical feature. Walk in the footsteps of Bogart, Cagney, Davis--and Bugs Bunny! Visit the Museum, filled with classic memorabilia--Sam’s piano from "Casablanca,” costumes and props from the Harry Potter movies. Afternoon: Compulsory Dance. Evening: Opening Ceremonies, Pairs Short Program.
