CUBA CRUISES

While non-American cruise ships have been traveling to Cuba for years, Carnival Corporation’s “social impact” brand, Fathom, recently became the first mainstream American-based option for cruising to Cuba from the US. In addition to Fathom, cruises to Cuba are also offered through Ponant, MSC Cruises, and Star Clippers.

The French luxury small-ship cruise line, Ponant, will begin cruises based out of Miami in January 2017, sailing through April 2017. Ponant will offer seven- and eight-night sailings to Cuba on its smallest and oldest vessel—the 64-pasenger Le Ponant. These cruises will be open to Americans through a “people to people” travel program offered onboard. Set to be available for purchase as of May 1, 2016, Fathom’s cruises to Cuba may be delayed if Americans are not allowed onboard.
