DELTA LAUNCHES NEW LUGGAGE TAG APP TECHNOLOGY

There’s nothing like lost luggage to put a damper on the holiday travel season, but a simple piece of technology could help limit the problem. Delta’s newest app update puts an end to the annoyance of lost luggage with its TAG App technology. Delta is adding Radio Frequency Identification chips, also known as RFID, to paper baggage tags. With this new technology, scanners use radio waves to capture highly accurate and consistent data stored on the RFID chip in real time, thus driving superior tracking and increased transparency.

When travelers load their bags, a light will flash green indicating everything is on schedule or flash red to alert a baggage handler of the situation if otherwise. The app update provides a map that travelers can check and refresh to see the last scanned location of their bags, providing much needed assurance for those traveling during the busy holiday season.
