While Buckingham Palace contains an impressive total of 775 rooms, only the 19 State Rooms are open to touring. The State Rooms are typically spaces where the monarch family hosts receptions and other social events for guests. Those who are planning a visit this summer will have the opportunity to view famous works of art by Rembrandt, Claude, Vermeer, Canova, Poussin, Chantrey, and Canaletto, amongst others, as well as create take their own selfie-masterpiece in the renowned Throne Room. The summer opening also features a special exhibition celebrating the 70th birthday of Prince Charles, with a showcase of over 100 pieces of art personally selected by the Prince.
