Walk or bike across the bridge to get the full experience of this awe-inspiring engineering marvel. Private sailboat charters are available if you’d like a water view of the Golden Gate too.
Visit Alcatraz

Muir Woods
Nature lovers should include a visit to Muir Woods if time allows. This quick day trip from the city takes you to the land of the giant redwood trees. Admire these ancient beauties that are some of the oldest and largest redwood trees on earth. As you meander the paths of Muir Woods National Monument, learn about the history, animals found in the park, and the habitat restoration.

It’s difficult to talk about San Francisco without mentioning food. The endless options will please even the most discerning palates. You will delight in the clam chowder served in sourdough bread bowls, pork buns from Chinatown bakeries, pizza slices in North Beach, and carnitas in the Mission District. This is only a small sampling of eating options in San Francisco. And if you’re near the Embarcadero on a Saturday, make time to meander through the Ferry Plaza Farmer’s Market. If you see a line, go stand in it because whatever’s being served will be delicious.
