Royal Caribbean and World Wildlife Fund Pair Up

Royal Caribbean recently announced that the cruise line has entered a five-year partnership with World Wildlife Fund to address threats facing the world’s oceans. Both Royal Caribbean and World Wildlife Fund have expressed their desire to be personally involved in identifying the needs, setting goals, and devising strategies in several areas of the cruise line’s operations and customer interactions.

Royal Caribbean has already spent hundreds of millions of dollars on water purification systems, scrubbers, and various programs to reduce landfill waste. Now, the cruise line has set specific targets to reduce its carbon emissions, increase sourcing of seafood from certified vendors, provide additional support to the destinations and communities where RCCL brands call, and educate passengers about the dangers facing the oceans, as well as engaging them to be part of the change. It isn’t a simple task to make an impact, but now that Royal Caribbean has the expertise of World Wildlife Fund, their goals are certainly more viable.

World Wildlife Fund will receive $5 million in philanthropic contributions over the next five years from Royal Caribbean. The organization is excited to work with the cruise line since Royal Caribbean has the ability to reach millions of consumers and educate its passengers about the simple choices they can make to help improve the health of the oceans, even after their vacation has ended.
