New offerings from Air Canada will change the way you look at economy travel. Dispelling the notion that economy air travel has to involve sacrifices, the airline wants to treat its passengers to budget-friendly luxury in its new Premium Economy Class category. Described as a surprise upgrade, without any additional fees, passengers can enjoy all of the comfort and perks of a pricier ticket level while staying in their budget.

Perks don’t stop at priority boarding and check-in – or with the two, free checked bags. Passengers flying in Premium Economy will be pleasantly surprised by the plush, roomy seats that are designed for plenty of leg room and space to stretch out. A cozy blanket and pillow complement the roomy seats, helping passengers relax while enjoying the in-flight entertainment offered. A cutting-edge entertainment system includes a personal touchscreen TV and a library featuring hundreds of hours of on-demand programming. In addition to the in-flight entertainment, passengers will also have access to newspapers and other reading materials for those who prefer their media a little more low-tech.

Just when passengers think economy perks have run out, there’s more! Complimentary wine and spirits are offered along with gourmet cuisine usually found at a fine restaurant. As passengers step onboard, they’ll be offered a welcome beverage to help them get settled into their seat. On international flights and select North American flights, guests will be able to choose from two hot meal options served on china, complete with cutlery and glassware. Air Canada’s Premium Economy Class passengers will truly experience VIP-level treatment, but on a practical budget.
