5 Ways to Detox and Recover after Vacation

As much as travel is becoming more and more seamless, it still drains us, no matter where we go. Whether it is a 15-hour flight or a few hours road trip, travel throws off our daily routines. Here are five great ways you can detox and recover after vacation.

Pre-arrange a ride from the airport

After sitting for what seems like a decade on a plane, the last thing you want to worry about after landing is how you will get home. Our recommendation is to pre-book your transportation and you can get straight home without having to think about it. There are services that would be willing to wait even if your flight times are unpredictable.

Get plenty of sleep

Dealing with jetlag? Our advice is to try and sleep at your normal schedule. It may also help if you take a flight that returns late in the afternoon, so you relax for a bit in the evening before heading to bed. Try sleeping in an extra hour or two as well.  This extra bit of shut eye will help you to function normally again!

Detox your diet

After filling yourself with delicious food on your vacation, detox with a healthy Mediterranean diet, rich in raw vegetables, to flush out all the toxins and inflammation.

Take a day before returning to work

Trying to maximize your vacation by returning home at the last possible minute? While that is economically smart, your body will not be able to handle the strain. Our recommendation is for you to get home a day prior to returning to work, so you can relax, reset, and not feel like you need a vacation after your vacation!

Ease back in

Taking a vacation usually entails missing out on work and feeling the need to pack 12 hour days into the week you return. This is absolutely understandable, but giving yourself some leeway to slowly ease back into work will relieve stress, prevent burn out, and not allow jetlag to get in the way of any plans you might have upon your return home.
