UA tests new wraparound headsets for entertainment in-flight

Up-and-coming tech company, Avegant, tested its Glyph headset in-flight with United Airlines recently. Representatives from Avegant handed out the headsets as passengers boarded their flights, and while in the air, had the opportunity to see how this piece of retinal projection technology paired with United’s in-flight streaming entertainment.

The Glyph headset uses retinal projection technology and can be used to view both traditional high definition movies and television, along with 3D and 360-degree videos, all in amazing detail, and offering a “lifelike, crystal clear, brilliant” picture. What separates the Glyph from standard 360-degree viewing headsets is the fact that you can easily see above and below the picture you’re viewing, which allows you to maintain your sense of space and balance.

The Glyph can connect to any HDMI-supported device and has a battery life of up to 4 hours of video playback; it retails for $549.00 (https://shop.avegant.com/).
