Construction is set to begin this summer on a 14-gate concourse to replace the outdoor boarding positions presently accessible only by bus from Reagan National’s Gate 35x. While this concourse will not add capacity to the airport, it will make for a much more pleasant experience for passengers. The concourse will add two additional security checkpoints to Terminal B/C, increasing its screening capacity to 28 lanes.

Airport officials have announced that construction on the new security checkpoints, as well as roadway and parking improvements, will begin this summer, with completion expected in 2020. The concourse upgrade will commence in 2018 and be ready for passenger traffic in 2021.
